The Assay Office is a regulatory body which ensures that dealers operate in line with the provisions of the Jewellery Act 2007 and its regulations.
This legislation enhances customer’s trust and confidence in the Jewellery Sector by providing maximum protection to customers of jewellery.
The Assay Office also provides support services to strengthen the reputation and recognition of Mauritian Jewellery on the local and international markets.
To this end, the Assay Office has developed a Quality Management System (QMS) based on the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 in order to meet the needs of our customers in a timely and cost effective manner.
It is also our aim to continually improve upon our services, processes and quality management system.
As part of this philosophy, we have set quality objectives throughout the organization which will be measured against and reported upon.
We will regularly review our performance to ensure that those objectives are achieved and evaluate the effectiveness of our Quality Management System.
The Director is firmly committed to the procedures included in the manual.
Through detailed documented procedures and appropriate training, he ensures the complete understanding and implementation of the requirements of the Quality Management System by staff within the organization.
The Director ensures that the quality policy is communicated and understood among all staff.
