Registration as Dealer in Jewellery


Any person dealing in jewellery made of gold, silver and platinum or precious or semi-precious stones should be registered with the Director, Assay Office. A Certificate of Registration as Dealer in Jewellery is issued and is valid for a period not exceeding 3 years.


A person may be an Individual or Company/Société/Corporate body. The following documents must be produced for registration of dealer as:

1. Individual:

  1. Birth Certificate;

  2. National Identity Card;

  3. Business Registration Card issued under Section 8(2) of the Business Registration Act 2002- to deal in jewellery; and

  4. Trade Fee Receipt to deal in jewellery.

2. Company/Société/Corporate body:

  1. Certificate of incorporation of the Company, Société or Corporate body (In case the Company was incorporated in any previous years, that is, not in the same year application is made to the Assay Office, the Receipt of Payment of Annual Registration to the Companies Division or the Certificate of Current Standing must also be produced along with the Certificate of Incorporation);

  2. Business Registration Card issued under Section 8(2) of the Business Registration Act 2002- to deal in jewellery;

  3. Trade Fee Receipt to deal in jewellery.
