- The Assay Office is a regulatory body established under the
Jewellery Act 2007 to ensure that dealers in jewellery, precious
metals and precious and semi-precious stones operate in line with
the provisions of the Act and its regulations. This legislation as
per our strategic direction aims at providing maximum protection
to consumers of jewellery, precious metals and precious and
semi-precious stones thus enhancing customer’s trust and
confidence in the sector. The Assay Office also provides support
services to strengthen the reputation and recognition of Mauritian
Jewellery on the local and international markets.
- To this end, the Assay Office has developed a Quality Management
System (QMS) based on the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 in order
to meet and satisfy the needs of our customers.
- Through this policy, we have set quality objectives throughout
the Assay Office with a view to delivering timely and
cost-effective service.
- The Quality objectives are measurable and would be reported
upon. We will also regularly review our performance to ensure that
those objectives are achieved and evaluate the effectiveness of
our Quality Management System.
- The Director is firmly committed to satisfy the requirement of
the Quality Management System. Through detailed documented
procedures, work processes and appropriate training, he ensures
the complete understanding and implementation of the requirements
of the Quality Management System by staff within the organization.
- It is also our aim to continually improve upon our services,
processes and quality management system.
- The Director ensures that the quality policy is communicated and
understood among all staff.
