Locally manufactured gold jewellery for sale in Mauritius should be marked with a Sponsor’s Mark.

The Sponsor’s mark includes the initials of the jeweller and two figures, as may be determined by the Director, enclosed in a horizontal hexagon.

Example:   

Any dealer who requires a Sponsor’s Mark should make an application to the Director, Assay Office. Initials and numbers will be allocated to the Dealer by the Assay Office in order to manufacture the mark. Thereafter, the dealer shall register the mark prior to its utilization and a Certificate of Registration of Sponsor’s Mark will be issued.

Registration fee of Sponsor's Mark: Rs3,000.
